• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I would like to make sure my XPR8300 has the latest firmware. I can't seem to find it on businessonline.motorolasolutions.com. I am a legitimate user of MOL and have the legitimate CPS (both 1.6 and 2.0) purchased from Motorola. I am sure I have the right to download this firmware if I can just find it! Could anyone send me a link to it on the Motorola site?

Thanks.

The MyView portal is the replacement for MOL. You can find the latest software and firmware there.

Just posting an update because the last comments on the XPR8300 is wrong. The latest CPS 15 firmware is R02.40.20. The latest CPS 2.0 firmware is R02.09.00.13. Just obtained the info from Motorola. They no longer support it and recommended I contact a local dealer because they usually have copies of the firmware. you cannot download them from myview. This is based on the conversation I had today with Motorola Mototrbo dept. If anyone has anything different please site the links from Motorola proving otherwise. I'm probably going to leave my firmware alone unless there is some special benefit going to R02.09.00.13.

The XPR-8300 series has been end of life for a number of years now and the software for it was withdrawn a long time ago--

The exception is the 800/900 XPR-8380 that lived on due to issues with the SLR-8000 line and supply chain during and post Covid. You can find latter firmware for the XPR-8380 product around still anything else would be a crap shoot.

An there is no real reason to move forward depending on where you are currently.

By the way the information you quoted is mostly just plain WRONG ---

If you go to the release notes for Version: R2.9.7 Date: November 9, 2018 you will see on Page 5 --
Repeater – XPR 8300/8400 -- R02.09.00.12_R19.00.03 (XPR/MTR) for CPS Version - CPS V16.0 Build 827

If you go to the Release notes for Version: R2.10 Date: May 13, 2019 you will see on Page 7 ---
Repeater - XPR 8380/XPR 8400 -- R02.10.00.05_R20.00.02 for CPS Version - CPS V16.0 Build 828

NOTE THE change between XPR-8300 and XPR-8380 specifically between the two releases.

CPS 2.0 is a M2020.01 (New release notation) child. An while you can usually update/program subscribers and repeaters on older firmware with latter releases of RM/CPS, this is not always the case.

I only quoted what Motorola just told me today, I'm definitely not familiar with the firmware. Thanks for providing the information it's weird they provided me some bogus info. You site release notes but since motorola doesnt support the XPR8300 any longer they have no information I could find on the releases anywhere. Everything appears to be purged from myview, the shop and the other links that I had. Where are you sourcing your information from?

Thanks.

My source is 15 plus years of supporting the product and collecting all sorts of data that was at one time on MOL or more recently myView. You would be surprised how much older hardware is still active and how far back some customers are. It's why I like VirtualBox.

As far as the Helpless center goes.. No other comment is needed.

Look for a copy of the "MOTOTRBO System Planner" that still includes the XPR-8300..

Hoping someone here can help. I have a XPR 8380 with 2.0 installed. My previous 8380 had 1.6 CPS on it. I was able to hex edit and get it in the 900mhz ham band. But, 2.0. Can't hex edit. Or, at least not yet. Anyone had any luck with either hex editing or downgrading to 1.6 cps? Any help in the right direction would be great.

Would you know if an xpr 8380 can be set back to CPS16 from CPS 2.0 so I can program it for the 900 ham band?
