• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Are all the XTL mobile radios wide/narrow band capable.
I have a ID number I cant decipher for an XTL 2500 M21KSM9PW1AN.
flash code :5002A8-801684-1
Can someone tell me if this radio can do conventional narrow/wideband and how it will perform on ham bands.

Also have this one in question: M21URM9PW1AN, M21SSM9PW1AN XTL 2500 uhf unknown flash code

I can not locate any info on M21 XTL radios.

Thank You

A simple google search would tell you that all XTL's are narrowband.. and what the frequency range is and since it will cover that range it will perform fine over the specified range. All 3 radios model numbers are found all over the internet with plenty of information

1st radio is 50 watt VHF 136-174. Ham band fine. Wide narrow fine.

M21URM is a 700/800 radio. No ham

M21SSM is a 470-520 radio. Not good for ham unless it's hackable in circuit mods to move the range 30 Mhz or more.

The VHF radio is flashed for P25 Trunking as well as other things.

As these radios have been out for eons, there is a metric crapton of posts on RR Batlabs and various blogs with everything you need about this platform.

M21 is XTL2500. M21SSM is rated 450-520. Not 470-520. Should work at 440 with a hex edit. My friend has one, & it's in spec down to 420 MHz.
