• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I have some questions hopefully I can get answered here.
Bought a New truck and I am converting my radios to an all HHCH setup with the factory console.

I have an XTL5000 VHF 110 that used to have a standard XTL5000 remote head. I bought a W3 HHCH HMN4044E. Plugged the radio in, got a 01/90 Fail, saw my home channel then the radio resets. and the display sequence repeats itself. I am waiting for the programming cable (HKN6172B) and the accessory cable (PMLN4959A) to arrive. Is the fail code something simple to be fixed in the CPS since changing the control head but not changing in the CPS?

As well, I bought an 800mhz XTL5000 with the astro remote TIB on it. Plugged the HMN 4044E HHCH into it with the rear plug and ignition sense cable powered but I get nothing on the HHCH. Is that a programming issue as well or is it likely the radio is DOA?

I am going to be converting my XTL5000 UHF R2 Dash Mount to a remote setup too. I want to run the HHCH HMN4044E on that radio. Do I just need the accessory cable PMLN4959A to get that to work as well? or do I need other things as well.

Trying to avoid buying an 03 head for the VHF due to cost.

Thank You in advance.

There is no such thing as a standard XTL5000 remote head. The XTL5000 can have the W3. W4, W5, W7, W9, O3, and O5 control heads depending on how the radio is configured. W series heads have specific hardware changes that have to be made in some instances. Can't really help you out without knowing exactly how your radios are already configured.

The XTL series requires a specific TIB to run an O3 or W3 head. Then it requires specific programming in order for the radio to recognize that head. It's not as simple as just plugging in an O3 or W3.
