If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello Everyone,
I have a XTL5000 Dash mount VHF (Model Number: M20KSS9PW1AN) with a W7 control head. This will be used as a base radio. I am trying to disable the ignition sense so that it will power on with out having to apply that power to the ignition sense wire. In Radio Wide>Advanced, I have ignition switch set to blank. I want to say there is another place in CPS for ignition sense, but I can not remember. Any advise/help would be appreciated.

Read the existing codeplug from your XTL5000 then go into the Radio Wide section and open the Advanced tab.
Now look down the left side of the page for Ignition Switch. Set it to Blank and write the codeplug back into the radio.

For a dashmount W series to be able to do ignition sense disable, you must short a couple of spots inside the control head circuit board. I believe that once you short this in the head, you might not be able to utilize the ignition sense as an option, as the radio will always sense power to the wire even if the accessory plug wire isn't connected to anything. I've got a few old Astro radios with the W series control head ign mod, just so I wouldn't have to wire a second lead for them to simply turn on.
