To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

OK, new to 2500 CPS, On MTS CPS I go to display and menu and click enable for caller ID, this allows current radio that is being received's ID to momentarily show on the display. I can not find this feature on the XTS-2500 CPS. Anyone familier? Thanks

The Caller ID option needed to be included in the feature/options purchased
with the radio in order for it to work. Can you post your flashcode?

As to where to find it, it's in the Display & Menu area and under PTT ID.

I went to the PTT ID tab under Display and Menu, checked the box for ID Display still does not seem to do "caller ID" the box for Scan ID Display is not checked. Number of prefix characters is 4. Any more input on getting the option to enable? I assume from the previous post that the flashcode I provided means the option is on the radio, is this a correct statement?
Again, Thanks to all that are helping. Tom

If you're trying to do this in the analog mode, it won't work. Analog talk groups won't show the caller's ID on the XTS-2500 yet. I think that there is a near future release of the firmware that will support it, but will require a 3600 baud "refresh flash" for about $75.00.

As your radio stands right now, however, it will show the caller's ID in the digital mode.

ok, our TRS is currently running analog (going partially digital some time in the future), so I assume this is why the option will not work? Is this correct? I am just suprised that out MTS-2000's do caller ID, but the nice, upgraded XTS-2500 will not, that confuses me? New but a step back? Thanks,..Tom any more suggestions.....post 'em.

That is correct, in analog it won't work. I have a bunch
of them and it only works in digital.

I guess I should of asked that first.

Well, your systems' transition to digital in the future has nothing to do with why the feature won't work. The reason it doesn't work is because they didn't add that feature to the radio's firmware....

It is a step backwards - for sure. So is the lack of a hot DTMF keypad in analog trunking for a model III, just to name a few "steps back" they took with the XTS-2500/XTS-5000. Motorola is going to be fixing the lack of these features in newer firmware releases.
