• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

New to me Ebay Special XTS 2500.... Most of the settings in ZCA are read only (other than Channel Name, TX and Rx freq. and Channel Spacing).

My digging thus far points to something that was flashed wrong. Current flash code is 160003-000100-8.

Any guidance?

Your XTS-2500 doesn't have a lot of features and you wouldn't expect to be able to edit any fields in the ZCA related features not present in the radio's flash code. That said, those field that become available for edit are dependent upon how your have configured the associated personality for each line in the ZCA.

IE: Your conventional personality is setup for "Non-Astro" whereby the fields "Direct Network ID, Tx Network ID, Rx Network ID, and Sector ID"
will be grayed out. Keep in mind that for example you want to set a PL or DPL squelch code that you must first select the Tx or Rx Squelch type before the related fields will become available. Spend some time reading through the CPS Help and it will all make sense.

Decoding Flashcode: 160003-000100-8 Platform: XTS2500

Q806 - ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
H869 - Hardware Multikey Encryption
Q52 - Federal Government FPP
H02 - Encrypted Tactical Inhibit
H35 - Conventional Systems Operation
Q53 - FCC FPP And Radio Cloning

That’s the flash code that came on those military low split UHF radios with the dim display for night vision goggles. A pretty basic, conventional flash code. Mine were “updated” to include more features. You may want to do the same.

Do you have guidance on which FLASHcode, or better, package of FLASH "features" would be more ideal? Not going to run trunking but I am still getting used to finding the information on features and such on these older motos. Thanks.

Bill - thank you for the information. Very helpful here. Will keep digging.

I had mine upgraded to 560001-001304-3. Gave me ADP, plus a few other features. Still conventional, no trunking.

Can the same guys who do alignments and tunes (i.e. Motorola Servicers) handle flashing?
