• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I recently added a couple more channels to the radio as you normally would but now if i tx on my 5000 on the same simplex channel the red led light will flash but i wont hear anything. Only until i tx on the 2500 then tx shortly after on the 5000 do I hear the sound come through. The radios are not next to each other when i test them they are about 5 feet apart

Assuming you do not have a CTCSS or DPL mismatch, or a frequency mismatch, the transmitting radio is simply overloading the front end of the receiver on the other radio.

The pl's are the same I just checked, and even tried it csq on TX/RX. After you said that I tried it again farther away at least 20 feet outside and still the same. Radio will only unmute receive audio after I key up and receives shortly after but after not receiving for sometime it will mute again. I forgot to mention this is only on non-astro, on astro i receive fine

Are these radios operating on a repeater, or simplex? If they're on a repeater, the transmitting radio is desensing the receiver of the other radio such that it cannot hear the output of the repeater, and therefore you can't hear the radio you're talking on. If that makes sense.

You don't have a quick call system set up with an auto reset timer do you? I think they UN mute after tx, then if they have the timer will revert back to the and setting after it expires.

No, i completely forgot to mention that the 1st zone that has this issue uses MDC signaling. The frequencies are simplex-talkaround only, not on a repeater

Solved

It was the Unmute Type in the MDC tab in the personality was set to "And" and it should be set to "Or", i changed it and tested it like that on all channels that use the personality and it now works. The tx opt dev is set to 2.5 khz and t/a dev to 5.0 khz with channel spacing at 12.5khz and also tried it at 25.0 khz and worked with all options whether it was 1 foot away from the other radio or 50 feet away
