The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All,

I have been utilizing Astro Sabers for a long time now. I have the CPS R5.03 for the Astros and XTS 3000. When It comes to the XTS 3000 I dont know very much. My question is if I try to program the XTS with the R5.03 CPS and it was previsouly programed by a higher version of CPS will it work? I am looking into moving on to the XTS 3000.

Thanks for the help!

You have the last known release of Astro Saber/XTS3000 CPS, which is R5.03.

The radios are electrically identical, except for the display. The same CPS programs them and codeplugs can be dragged and dropped between the two models.

you should have no problem programming your XTS3000s with the same platform that worked for your Astro Sabers.

Thanks, I was worried about getting the Codeplug too new issue. Which I think was caused by what I described.

Funny, but I can program these radios with 5.02, even though they were last programmed with 5.03, so sometimes you can go backwards. Or on the XPR Trbo radios, even though they were programmed last with the new 10.7 CPS, they can still be programmed with the older 10.5. Anyone know why?

I think it may have to do with the first number of the CPS version.

For instance, 5.01 will program anything with a 5 in front of it (5.09, 5.11, etc.).
