If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Have an XTS 3000 model II that boots up with "Key Fail" & won't transmit encrypted but it will receive encrypted traffic from the other radios?

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Tried deleting the key & reloading it but still having that error.

If it is multi-key radio the key that the personality is strapped to is blank. The right key might be in the radio, which allows it to receive the encrypted traffic, but won't let it TX if it is pointed to a different one.

I'm impressed! Most people don't realize that as long as the key is in the radio somewhere it will still decrypt.

Thanks for the help got that issue sorted out now I ran across another.

When using a headset / ptt I'm having issues transmitting when in the clear. I'm using a TCI Liberator III and when I go to hit PTT to talk when in the clear it only keys up a split second and then stops. If I'm in secure mode it transmits just fine.

I'm assuming this is a simple setting / timer somewhere?

Thanks again

Ok here is where it gets weird I'm thinking it's a smart PTT or timer issue?

If I get the timing JUST right and double click my PTT it will key up in the clear and let me transmit. Another thing I noticed is if I key the PTT on the radio itself and then hit the PTT on the cabble / headset and release the PTT on the radio it still lets me transmit.

Any idea what setting this is?
