XTS 5000 GCRCN issue

Hey guys new to the site, recently acquired an XTS 5000 off eBay been messing around with it in CPS I have the GCRCN on it but seems to have an issue when I am out of the county like for example when I am in summit I can never pick it up, is there another tower that is closer that it could affiliate with? Would like to add MARCS towers but want to have the issue corrected first

I would ask the system administrator if the TG you are assigned is allowed on any sites in that area.

GCRCN is a 14 tower Simulcast Site. I went to the RR Database to check the tower locations. Unfortunately that feature is not working today.
As best as I can remember, all of the towers are located within Cuyahoga County. So not much overlap into surrounding counties.

Regarding MARCS, it is also a Simulcast Site. But, some of it's towers are located just over the Cuyahoga County boarder. Which allows monitoring of the boarder area's of the surrounding counties. Lake, Geauga, Summit, Medina and Lorain.

I've listened to a couple of GCRCN pursuits down I-77 to Norton and Barberton area where the cars were perfectly clear - no breakup or problems. I thought that was a bit unusual.

Everything is working now I reflashed it is working perfect, yes I am using NAS,also the Marcs tower is working perfect

Just an FYI. The XTS 5000 is not P25 Phase 2 compatible. Don't know the exact date yet, but MARCS will be going to Phase 2 in the near future. I don't see Cleveland changing anytime soon.

What MARCS County (regarding Phase II) are you referring too? I haven't heard of any counties in Northeast Ohio that has a need for Phase II.

Don't think Phase II is anytime in the future they are still building infrastructure, reprogramming everything would cost way more than any local city would want to pay.

Everyone on MARCS are switching over to the APX 6000 or equivalent. They are puling all the XTS 5000's.

The XTS5000's are getting replaced due to life cycle & end of support issues, not because we are rolling out TDMA.

Many agencies are indeed switching to more modern radios.

But that doesn't mean that MARCS will be using Phase 2.
