Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just wondering if anyone had used or had any success with these (what seem to be knock off) XTS batteries. We received a shipment of 20 or so of these batteries at the career department I work for and they seem to be junk. Not holding a charge, sometimes bank charger won’t even recognize a battery is in it, just all around unreliable. Could it just be a bad batch? Also is there a way to tell when it was made? Maybe they had been sitting in storage for years before being sent up to us?

Recently replaced a batch of 30 XTS 2500 IS Batteries. Used Impact Power. These radios are cache radios and have been deployed. No user complaints. Not comfortable buying replacements from lowest price sellers. (These are mission critical radios, not hobby radio deployments)

They may just be old then, like they have been sitting in storage for a long time because they just don’t seem to hold a charge as well as the impress ones do

Had great results with Power Products lithium ion XTS5000 and APX batteries. Ordered a batch of their 4300mah APX batteries which are the same size as the OEM 3400mah APX packs. They initialize perfectly in our IMPRES 2 chargers, and most of them are 4700-4800mah and last ALL DAY on an APX8000 with heavy use, like 14-18 hours, before LOW BATT starts barking. Same with their XTS5000 4100mah battery, great replacement for OEM batteries.

These 3rd party batteries are all I could find. Labeled 'new old stock' Not dead on arival, but needed charging.
It took a couple charge/use cycles but they came around. Now, sitting charged for a month, the radio shows full charge.
Ones I bought are unbranded Li-ion high cap.
Had fair to good luck with them.

I haven't seen that brand before but I do use many off-brand batteries for all my Motorola radios including the XTS1500 and XTS2500 series; and the XTS3000 and XTS5000 series. I have several Empire Li-ion 4XXX something Mah batteries, made unfortunately in China, and so far they have been good and last a long time between charge cycles. I'm amazed it doesn't take long to charge from using it all day long. I wish my Impress Battery Charger would condition them.

I just acquired an XTS5000 FPP radio and it came with a very old, maybe more than 10 years old, 3900 Mah Motorola Impress battery and it conditioned showing 90-100% of capacity life in the battery. It'll be interesting to see how long the battery will last between charge cycles.

I just ordered a couple Power Products Smart 4K+ capacity batteries to try them with my XTS5000 radios to see how they compare.

The 2 I have on my personal radios are over 10 years and I get a day to 2 days off them though I have 2 model one XTS 5000 no display but they both still show 100% capacity on am impress smart charger. Do a recondition cycle on both every week or 2 depending on use

Speaking of Motorola batteries - I still have an OEM Motorola super short Li-Ion Astro Saber battery that lasts 7-8 hours date coded 2005. I also have a MT1000 OEM Motorola battery date coded 2005 as well and that one lasts 10 hours on a charge. I guess I got lucky with these going on 20 year old Motorola batteries haha
