A colleague acquired a Model I XTS 5000 from a seller on eBay, and I agreed to program it with the frequencies for a volunteer organization we're both involved with.
I read the codeplug from the radio and drag-and-dropped a known-good one onto the top. There were no relevant drag and drop errors. Writing the codeplug back also was fine. I'm using Astro 25 CPS 20.01.00.
The radio behaves fine right up until the point where it breaks squelch on receive. When that happens, the radio resets: you get the startup beep and the LED flashes once green, exactly as per radio power-up. Transmit works fine. I used a known-good Impres battery to rule out power issues, etc.
I noticed that the radio had old firmware, R16.00.01, but I've not had problems like this before with older firmware. Does this sound like a hardware issue? Some weird interaction with the old firmware and the new CPS? I've suggested he return it to the eBay vendor as faulty, but wanted opinions on whether it could be something else.
Radio has firmware/DSP R16.00.01; UCM R05.07.15; tuning R01.09.07; PSDT R04.00.00 and boot loader R01.01.00; if any of the other versions might be relevant.
