XTS Commander 1 vs 2?

I just got my new toy (5k) and I'm looking at picking up a commander mic or two. My question is, what is the difference between the original and the II? I see the originals pop up NOS for $75 or so, every so often on ebay, vs the $130 for a 2. I'm planing to use it on a backpack while hiking, with the radio on the back to stay out of the way. So it's not like I'm in public safety, relying on it for my life.

I believe the answer is "the Commander II speaker-mic has better noise cancelling qualities".

I have both a Commander and a Commander II and I haven't really noticed enough of a difference between them to say exactly how their performance varies. But then again, I'm not usually using the radio in a very noisy environment.

The noise cancelling is intended for use where things are very noisy. Probably that won't be what you're going to do so either model will likely be just fine for you.

Both mics have very good performance. You can hold the mic behind you, transmit, and your voice will be heard almost as well as if you were speaking directly into it at the recommended distance of 2 inches.
