• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

ASTRO 25 CPS works on most Windows versions right up to the very latest Windows 11 24H2.

Keeping in mind the caveat that an XTS3000 is technically an "XTS radio", just not an ASTRO25 radio.
But 32-bit Windows 7 works just dandy for that relic.

Am I able to program a xts radio without windows xp?
Depending on which model XTS that you are referring to? If the XTS radio is the XTS3000 that is the same CPS that is used for the Astro Saber and is known as the Astro Saber & XTS3000 CPS which requires a Window XP or Vista 32-Bit Operating System. I never tried loading this on a Windows 7 32-Bit Operating System. I'm not sure that this CPS will work on a 64-Bit Operating System.

As for the XTS1500, 2500, and 5000 series radios, you will need the Astro 25 Portable CPS for the portables and the Astro 25 Mobile CPS for the XTL1500, 2500, and 5000 mobiles.

I never tried to load the Astro 25 programs on a Windows XP or Vista. When I first started using the Astro 25 CPS, it was on a Windows 7 Operating System and I think it was a 32-Bit Operating System. When I get a chance, I'll get the laptop out later today and check and if it is a 64-bit system, I'll update my posting.

Currently, I am using the Astro 25 Portable and Mobile CPS programs on both a Windows 10 and 11 computers.

You've now heard differently, and trust me @GTR8000 knows what he is talking about. But if you aren't sure feel free to call Motorola and ask them.
If Motorola no longer supports a particular model series, you'll be hard-pressed to get anyone at Motorola to talk to anyone about a discontinued model series.

Windows 10 32 bit works too. Too bad the final release for 32 bit Windows is LTSC 2019.
