• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The triple beep is the talk permit tone in trunked mode ONLY.

To the absolute best of my knowledge, which is fairly deep with regard to the venerable 5K, you're not going to get it in any other mode of operation. I'd know, I spent plenty of time seeking that myself. It's just not possible if you're not registered to a trunked system.

Be happy with the clear TX alert tone which you can enable.

Ok. Thanks for the help.

For a trunked system, I can’t seem to get a system key. How can I obtain one (legally)? I went to the website hacker russian or whatever it’s called, and many people claim to have success with it, but it led me to a nude website.
Any ideas?

That's a subject that people are not going to discuss much, at least not openly. Forget getting it legally, you can't. But everybody's got the key generator. It's the radio geek equivalent of jaywalking. Illegal but nobody cares if you don't get run over.

Don't mess with trunked radio systems unless you know for sure what you are doing, are 100% confident in your abilities, and are 100% willing to take the heat if you get it wrong. Accessing someone else's trunked system just to get the cool sounds isn't a good reason. Doing it wrong can take resources away from first responders and risk lives.

Yes, it can be done, but you need to do it right. There's a real good reason why we usually tell people to just get a scanner.

The system administrator.

If you're talking about conventional for gmrs or murs and so on you'd need to have DVRs option enabled and trick the radio to look for a DVRs then enable talk around. This isn't ideal as it'll attempt to find a vehicle repeater and delay before going into talk around which gives the tpt tone. Morely useless.

As for systems you need to be authorized and let the designated shop touch it regardless who owns it.

Why LLA is a real thing popping up on systems now. Several I know of are in works to implement it.
