The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have tried unsuccesfully to program an XTS2500 Mod III VHF using Astro CPS R13. I have tried three times and each time i go to write the radio, it comes up with an error saying that the firmware version can only accept 15 zones with 16 channels, each one pointing to a unique personality, only up to 240 personalities. I have tried with FPP on and off, with no difference. This last time I tried, I have exactly the number of zones, channels, and personalities that it says, but still no luck. Does anyone here have any ideas of how I can get this to work?

I believe the radio has version 9 firmware. It is flashed for conventional only, but I don't know if that matters or not.

Just to clarify, are you using Astro CPS or Astro25 CPS? I was under the impression that the 2500/5000 radios needed Astro25.

He has to be using Astro25 CPS. Astro CPS doesn't go up to R13
Try going below the allowed amount.

With an FPP Radio using CPS above 9, you must have 240 personalities set up 16 channels in each of the first 15 zones otherwise the radio won't accept it.

New CPS FPP rules require this arrangement. It was much easier with CPS 9, you may want to go back if you can.

So, zone 1 must be 1-16
Zone 2 17-32
etc etc

These will all be FPP channels, and there's really no way around this arrangement.

That's exactly what I thought it meant and is how it is currently was set up, yet the radio would not allow it.
