As some of you know, the XTS2500 brings a battery that charges in the XTS5000 series chargers. But you can put an HT1250 (Harris) battery and the radio works fine. I know about the IS and rugged ratings will not be valid BUT nevertheless the 1250 battery works on this radio...
Now, here's were some issues arise, the 2500 with 1250 WILL NOT charge on the 5000 due to its different width, thus it fits on the 1250 charger - Follow me so far?
If you insert the 1250 in the 1250 charger works as it was designed to, BUT if you keep the radio attached it does not. I have configure it in such a way that it does charge by elimating the temperature sensing pin on the battery.
From a stand point of a user that does not want to spend a lot of money on batteries and I have a bunch of 1250 batteries, how critical is this temperature pin? Can I be without it? Again remember this is for my own personal use and will not be utilized on any entity.
Thanks...
