• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a couple of Motorola XTS2500 radios I am trying to figure out programming on. I am very familiar with the Motorola DMR radios and CPS, but trying to learn the Astro 25 CPS. I can see all the features that are available on these radios and some show enabled and other disabled. How do you enable some of these features?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

There is no legit way to add features to astro25 platform anymore as motorola does not support it. You would need to use software that is not discussed here.

Sounds like I wasted my money on these. Thanks for the reply.
No you didn’t. They are great radios. Contact this guy who can add any features you need.

It would help if you can advise what band these are and what you plan on using them for?

If for ham usage then can possibly point you to other sites with info to turn on features.

I have been working with this CPS a bit, trying to learn it. When trying to update the firmware it is asking for a system key / flash key. Is that just some sort of software that has to go in or is it a physical connection? I guess these radios are a lot different in that aspect from the MotoTrbo line, those are easier to program.
