XTS2500 Fail 01/82

I'm trying to do some work on a few XTS2500's. I read radio #1, saved the codeplug, made the changes, and tried to write to it. Part way through the radio made a "boop" sound and now displays "FAIL 01/82".

I attempted the same process with radio #2. Same steps, same results.

Radio #3... same steps, same results. This time I used a different laptop.

I am using a legit ASTRO 25 Portable CPS R17.00.00. I am using Motorola brand programming cable. All 3 radios have firmware R11.00.03.

Any ideas? I have tried writing to the radio with the original codeplug but it will not go. Are these going to have to go to the depot or can I save them?

Mine ended up going to the depot. Got it reflashed and now works good. Good luck.

the one radio that I have seen do this had to be sent to the depot also, local moto dealer couldnt touch t

Firmware 11.xx is known as "time bomb" firmware that will result in exactly what you describe.

Open a case with support services and send them to the depot, last I sent a V11 XTS5000 in (fully legit radio w/tags) it was fixed for free, they even replaced the RF board (apparently a known issue with the particular board in my radio I didn't even know of) and it came back with V15 HOST/DSP, which was current at the time.

V11 was buggy and known to result in corrupted codeplugs. Off to the depot they will have to go.

the big m have realesed a new firmware 17.00.02 i have been using cps 17 with no problems
you can zapflash your radio to upgrade it
also depot 7 software is out there you could create a new code plug and write it to the radio and that will fix your error
be careful with depot 7 software it can be dangerous if not used correctly
i cant help you with the software but its out there on the net

I have 4 radios at the Depot... 3 failed while using the CPS and the 4th failed while I tried upgrading the firmware to 17.00.02. In speaking with an engineer they have admitted there is a conflict between the CPS and firmware. A new version of the CPS should be out soon.
