• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi. I have a xts2500 model ii uhf radio. Im currently using a Brand new Motorola NNTN7335B 2800mah impres lithium ion battery for power. I use it for listening only at this time. My battery gets to 2 bars at 80% and at 50% still at 2 bars, it starts chirping low battery. Doesnt even go to 1 bar. Did it last night and It only has 4 charges according to the battery status. What should i do for this problem? Can it be tuned? Im using the current software at this time. Please let me know asap. Thanks.

Do you have the early low battery alert enabled in the CPS?

I’ve been using XTS2500’s for years. while they’re a great radio, the battery readings are quite useless. When the radio shows I have 2200 ma capacity left, the Moto battery analyzer shows it‘s really 2800 ma. OTOH, on my APX when it shows I have 3400 ma left, the analyzer shows 3430 ma. The APX readings are right on the money.

If the firmware isn't the last release(s) 20.50.09 or 20.50.10, do the radio a favor and update it. There's too many fixes to ignore over the years. Then use it, plop it on the charger when it has it's fits and let it go thru a recondition cycle when the times comes for it to decide to recondition (orange light instead of red)

In my case, I have the newest FW, & all 8 2500’s read about 600 ma low compared to the Moto Impres battery analyzer.
