The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XTS2500 Strange Audio Issue

In the last couple of months, I sent my XTS2500 to a local Motorola Shop to finish a housing replacement. I also sent another radio to them and it came back repaired. But on the XTS, I noticed that the volume was quieter then it use to be at times on analog channels but for awhile I thought it was just me. Then I started to notice that there was a dramatic change in volume at times on analog channels like the volume would jump and then get quiet again. The weird thing is from what I can tell when you press the keypad and get the bonking tone it does not seem to have the volume issue. I do not have a lot of P25 UHF in my area to listen to but I do not seem to notice any volume changes on P25 either. Is this a setting issue or do I need to take this to a Motorola Shop to get looked at? It seems like a really strange issue to be having.

I sort of have had that "problem," too. But when the radio is on a Speaker Mic, either it's not there, or I don't notice it. Try putting it on a Speaker Mic and see if you still have that issue.

So you took a radio to a Motorola Shop to get fixed, and now it's misbehaving? It didn't do any of this before the recasing?

Are you referring to another moto shop or the first one? When you purchase an item or service, you go back to the shop that provided you with said item/service as you did not get what you paid for. After you exhausted your ability to get resolution at that shop, do you then go elsewhere.
