• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

As stated above, the CPS for the XTS3000 radios is for only the Astro Saber series radio. The CPS for the XTS1500, XTS2500, and XTS5000 is for the Astro Digital P25 Series radios. The Astro Digital Series programming cables are RIB-less cables and be either a DB9 or USB computer to radio cable. The XTS3000 radio programming cables can be either a RIB-less DB9 or USB computer programming cable to the radio with the appropriate radio accessory connector or Computer DB9 or USB Serial Adapter Computer Cable, and with the Prolific Driver, to the RIB, and the RIB to Radio Cable with the Appropriate Accessory Connector.

I don't believe the Astro Saber Radio was capable of being programmed RIB-less.

Both the 3000 and the Astro Saber are Astro 25 (digital) capable.

Yes, I know that, I have a few channels programmed with Astro Digital emissions in three of my Astro Saber radios.

Yup, and unlike Astro 25 CPS which will work perfectly with modern O/S like Win10/11 64 bit, XTS3000/Astro Saber CPS will only read/write radios on 32 bit versions of WIndows XP/7.

Runs fine on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 32 bit. Key is 32 bit Windows not 64 bit. My legacy field programming laptop is a CF-19 with LTSC 2019 as it's still under Mainstream support form Microsoft and will get extended support until 2029.

Astro 25 and P25 are the same thing. All five radios are capable of P25, both conventional and trunking. Are you saying there is a difference in Astro 25 and P25? I’m just trying to understand your original comment and if you’re saying there’s a difference in the capabilities of the Astro Saber, XTS3000, XTS1500, 2500, and 5000 as it relates to P25?

I was attempting to name the two CPS applications. When I get home, I'll fire up the two computers and ascertain correct program names for what I was trying to convey.

That is exactly what I was trying to convey this morning. I wasn't home at the time of the posting and I couldn't remember exactly what the titles where. I use both application quite frequently. I just click on the icons in the taskbar.
