• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You should just not. You're now potentially interfering with legitimate users and may end up with your radio stunned.

If you don't know how, don't do it. There's plenty of threads out there that will show you how to do it.

There's a whole thread tacked at the top of the forum about using a Motorola radio to scan a trunked system, and how to configure it to keep it from affiliating.

I suggest you read it.

But I'll give you a quick tip: There's a TX frequency offset. It has to be right for the radio to work properly as a user of the trunked system.

If you screw up the value, it won't be able to transmit into the system., It will try but every transmission will be on the wrong frequency and the system won't even know your radio is there.

It's part of how to safely monitor any "OBT" (Other Band Trunking) system.

The catch is that your radio may still attempt to transmit on frequencies you're not licensed to transmit on. It could even cause interference. But the transmissions will only be extremely short data bursts, which isn't as bad as long off frequency transmissions.

You need to read the tutorial and apply its principles.

I think it's trying to tell you your battery is dying.

The fact that you don't know whether it's trying to affiliate or not and you can't make a solid determination of whether it's actually transmitting or not is very telling. Plenty of radio (not scanner) users know what they're doing and they know whether their radio will attempt to affiliate and if so, on what frequency. You, on the other hand, don't seem to know what you're doing and are why so many folks are advised to "just use a scanner". Seriously, you can't come up with any way to verify whether your radio is transmitting or not?

I'm sure the folks at Bell Fleetnet and the OPP are thrilled to have the likes of you messing with their system.
