To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys, Ive programmed my XTS5000 and have a bunch of P25 conventional stuff programmed. When I have the radio on scan, only the analog traffic unmutes, but not the P25. In order to monitor the P25 traffic, I need to take the radio off scan and park it on that channel. I have MDC disabled on that channel and have it set to digital CSQ. I'm scratching my head and my buddy has no ideas either. Also, I have the channel set to RX digital and I have the RX unmute rule set to the usual and unmute/or mute. What can i do here?

Nacs set correctly, scan lists set correctly, is the muting condition And/or? Also is the tuning alignment good?

Besides making sure the alignment is good. Whats the firmware version? If it's old, upgrade it. There was a firmware update to fix slow scan in P25. Also is the P25 a simulcast CQPSK or C4FM? Make sure it's the right modulation type.

The F/W is 20.50.09
I have it set to and/or and the modulation is set to C4FM because it is a conventional P25 simulcast system, not trunking. I have the channel set to digital CSQ. When I have the radio set to that channel, everything comes in fine, only when it is scanning is the issue. It was recently aligned. Yes, I do have that channel included on a scan list and a scan list is asigned to that channel. You see what I mean??

Set your digital modulator to CQPSK as was noted. This is needed since it's simulcast.

OK, I thought CQPSK was only used for trunking. I also monitor another P25 simulcast and its C4FM. I'll switch it. Thanks

You may have other issues as well, but to successfully scan LSM/CQPSK you have to have the digital modulator set to CQPSK (actually to take advantage of LSM/CQPSK while not scanning it needs to be set properly also, but you'd really only notice that on the fringe or overlap areas).

Simulcast monitoring also requires a properly aligned radio. If the radio is out of alignment that will cause decode issues.
