Any Yaesu FT-101E owners out there? I just got a strip down chasis with no power supply or the five boards and missing the main tuning knob but I can get those on ebay. My questions are has anyone tried the mods that are online? And if so how did they go? Any mods not online that you found? It has no case and finding one is hard so I'm thinking of keeping it open-would that hurt anything? Anything else I should know about this rig? I found alot online but some is outdated.

Hello,

You must have gotten it at NEAR-Fest. There was a seller with a bunch of old Yaesu equipment missing bits and pieces.

There should be a AC/DC Power Supply built-in. The AC or DC cable is plugged into a Cinch-Jones type connector. The Yaesu numbering of the plug is different than Cinch-Jones numbering!

I have one that I seldom use anymore. It has a sweep tube final so watch the transmitter duty cycle when tuning. The germanium power transistors used for 12 volt DC operation can not withstand supply voltages over about 15 volts very well.

This maybe useful.

I would not put much money and effort in that radio. I bought a kenwood ts 820s for $275. It came with a cw and ssb filter and puts out 115 watts. also a digital read out and 6146 tubes.
