Thanks to a great idea by KF5DCI, I made a Yaesu FT-2800M to Radio Shack 20-047 Programming Cable Adaptor.

Following his idea of reusing the 20-047 scanner programming cable, I put together the adaptor and tried it with G4HFQ's FTB2800 software and it works!

Here's the schematic of the adaptor:

Thanks again to KF5DCI.

Thanks Mr Antsy!

A great idea, one which I shall try when I get a couple of RJ12 connectors.

My junkbox only has the 8 pin types :(

Awesome man. That RS USB Cable is just a nicely packaged USB to serial to TTL converter. With a bit of tinkering it could program just about any radio. Nice work!

I think I have a bag full and I really don't even use anything with 6 pin connectors anymore. PM me your address and I'll toss a handful in a envelope to you, as long as you got a working crimper you should be good.

Will this also work for the FT-7800 or FT-7900?

It sure would be nice to be able to program all those 1000 memory channels in the 7900 with a computer rather than by hand!

I just bought my 7900 a month or so ago and so far I like the heck out of it.

Thanks!
Kevin
