Yaesu: Yaesu FT 840 No transmit keyed with mic, full output with MOX and mic keyed.

Just as the title says, won't transmit with original or new mic UNLESS MOX is pushed, When MOX is pushed, it goes into transmit immediately, but no audio until the mic PPT is keyed. Original owner (SK) said it was zapped by lightning. To make a short story, junk or should I investigate more. Acts like a relay circuit issue.
