Did a lot of shopping around recently for both old and new xcvrs prior to purchasing a Yaesu FT-890 xcvr that's arriving soon. Yes, it's an older '90s era rig but it had great reviews on eham and it fit my budget. Somehow I'm addicted to older rigs, especially those with real D'Arsonval movement S meters, hihi. And it's pre-SMT so I can actually see the components with the naked eye which helps if/when components require replacement. My previous rig was a Tempo One so this is a giant leap forward.

Wondering if anyone has/had one of these and how do you like it? Tnx and 73's.

I bought a FT890 new at a hamfest around 1993. Great radio in all respects. The autotuner in my 890 would tune anything. I used the 890 for several years until I replaced it with another great Yaesu radio, the FT 990. Some FT 890's did not have autotuner.
