Thinking about getting a 991 VERY soon. My question : I don't have a dedicated HF antenna available, just a 90 foot random wire with a 4:1 balun. I do have a good UHF/VHF J-pole and also a Diamond Discone. In the beginning,( for a month or so) I won't have a good multi-band antenna installed for HF use. So - is there any way I can set the radio up so that I don't accidentally try to transmit on HF while listening to ham traffic on my random wire. I do plan to transmit in low power (10 W or so) on VHF and UHF repeaters.
I don't want to damage the radio so I need some good advice! I do have a ham license (General class).
