Yaesu: Yaesu FT500 displays “x”

I was having a problem with a channel transmission. I noticed up in the display there were various attributes for the channel. There was an X. After erasing and re-programming that channel, the X no longer was displayed. And the channel worked just fine.
What does the X mean? Thank you.

page 27 of the manual says it is the "skip memory channel" function
