Yaesu: Yaesu FTM-300D Mic Extension?

I have done a bit of searching and I believe the FTM-300 uses a RJ12 6 wire plugs and connectors. Would just about any wire and socket combo work? I am looking to put a RJ12 socket somewhere on my dash and have a rather clean install when the radio itself is hidden under the center console. I will also have a remote speaker to hear of course. Am I correct in thinking that it is a RJ12?

All you need is an RJ12 coupler and 6 pin cable. Or buy one of these:

I had a VHF radio mounted in a water resistant case on the back of a UTV. To keep everything protected and out of the way, I just extended the mic and speaker to the drivers area, much like what you want to do.
The kit above will get you what you need.

I went one step further and installed a feed through similar to this on the dash next to the mic clip:

Mmckenna, that is very similar to what I was considering. I actually like the one you posted better.

I guess the mic plugs in radio body like my FTM100.

When I had in the old car, just purchased something similar to link below from ebay. In the long run it was cheaper to buy this, rather the purchase all the supplies and tools to.just make one cable.
