I have a Yaesu FTM-200D that when transmitting on UHF everything is fine, when I try to transmit on VHF the radio powers off. I am not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

Starved for power. What power supply are you using? Check the power cabling for splices and properly installed connectors.

It is mounted in my car. It has been fine for about a year and just started this about two weeks ago.
Check your power cable wiring and connectors at both ends. You may have corrosion or a loose connection.
Also check the SWR on your antenna system, and remove the antenna, disconnect the connector from the radio, and check the continuity of the coax.

Ok, will do.

Check your SWR on VHF and UHF, concern would be high SWR on VHF washing enough RF back down the line to cause problems with the radio.

Ditto on inspecting the power feed. Trace all the way back to the battery, carefully inspecting every connection, Pay close attention to the fuse holders. The crappy fuse holders that Yaesu uses are notorious for issues.

Copy that, I have enough hook up wire to run a new line.

If you check everything else and determine that fault is with the power feed, then that's a good idea. But it would be a curious thing if the bit of additional amp draw on VHF was enough to push it over the edge, with no issues on the UHF side.

But, yeah, one continuous run from the radio to the battery. Ditch the cheap @** fuse holders that Yaesu gives you and get something better on the battery end.

And run your negative lead to a body ground near the radio, not all the way back to the battery. No fuse needed on the - side.

Got it solved I believe. I changed out the glass tube fuse for a blade fuse and it seems to be working. I am able to transmit on VHF without issue.

Welcome to the club. One of my first experiences troubleshooting as a new ham was this exact issue. Why they still use those cheap @$$ fuse holders is beyond me.

Glad to hear you've got it working.
