Yaesu VX-6R Discriminator Tap?

I'm trying to add a discriminator output to my VX-6R for a data application. I would prefer to use one of the pins on the existing audio jack if at all possible. ( I am OK with losing functionality of the jack for speakers/mics/etc).

Has anyone tried/been successful with this or with simply adding a jack elsewhere?
