Picked up one of these years ago for a emergency radio if ever needed. Never Got my ticket which was the plan. Anyways, blew off the dust and played with it a bit. Hooked it up to my outside wire and was surprised how good it picked up SW, compared to my Icom R30. Is there a better antenna than the stock antenna that come with it? Thanks.

I use the Comet 100RX, it's adjustable so you can monitor many different bands. Though the VX-7R is sensitive it can easily overload with intermod on MW/HF/SW bands since it doesn't have SSB modes or adjustable bandwidth filters. Best wishes with yours!

Listening for now. Have a collection of antennas I accumulated over the years to try before I spend some money on another antenna.

That comet 100RX looks pretty good. Will keep that in mind. Thanks.
