Has anyone had any experience making this combination work?

I've receiving reports, my radio is transmitting 'something', though I can't see my location on any maps.

Thanks,

Shawn

Mully,

Your two other threads have been deleted. Usually if you do not get any responses after a week, then post to another forum.
It is considered bad form to post in multiple places.

Thanks:)

If by "see my location on any maps" you are refering to APRS.fi findu.com or similar
services then you need to be close to an Igate or a digipeter that will reach an Igate.
I would think a large city such as Calgary would have a few digipeaters.
Path for the VX8R is recommended to be menu (15 Digi Path) Wide 2 - 1
If you are hiting a digipeater your VX8r will sound a double tone and then a single beep.
Your station ID VE3UR-7 (in my case)
will appear in the station list. If you are not located close to the digipeater this will not occur and you will not get digipeated to an Igate, only stations close enough to receive you simplex will show you on their personal maps or displays if mobile. I hope you get this sorted as the VX8 is a great radio.

Thanks for the advice VA3PKH... my APRS is working now.

My problem was a combination of setup and range of the radio/digipeater combo.

Cheers

I am attempting to connect in the Calgary area as well and receive the double tone and several local station IDs but my station list does not shown my own callsign. In any case I do not see my callsign on APRS.fi.... Is there a way for me to find local digipeaters c/w Igates?

Google Maps APRS will show you all of the digipeaters and igates in the area.
