I am looking to buy new FT60r and prefer the international version. Suggestions where to buy? I am looking at Hong Kong sites but cannot locate the FT60r. Hoping it will be cheaper. Also, suggestions were to buy the PC programming cable only (not software)? Thanks

For a programming cable if you want a good quality one I would highly recommend the seller "BlueMax49ers" on ebay. I have never had single issue with any of his cables. FTDI USB Programming Cable Yaesu FT-60 FT-60R FT-60E CT-106 extended CT-91 | eBay

If you're needing something a bit cheaper and are willing to take a chance some of those '6 in 1' cables you see on ebay for $10-15 are okay. I have 2 sets of them and haven't had any problems but like anything else..... you get what you pay for.

I'm curious as to why you want a European or Asian version of the FT-60. They restrict both 2 meters and 440 to 144-146MHz and 430-440 MHz. This would limit its use in the US. Whereas the US version could used outside the country as long as you stuck to the band plan. Radios and cameras aren't cheaper in Asia. They also don't have US warranties.

Get the RTSystems cable. You can buy it separately. Don't use CHIRP with Yaesu radios.

The was looking for the international version to extend freq range. Looks like I will stay with the US version and not use Chirp.
I just noticed that AliExpress sells the r version but more expensive than buying in US. The E version may be only for Europe.

If you get a US model and remove a resistor or jumper it transmits over most of the VHF and UHF bands.

What is the SMA connector on the body of the ft-60R? I believe it is female but cannot confirm in the manual. Thanks

It is a standard SMA connector (i.e. female). The manual was probably written before all of the CCRs with their SMA male connectors flooded the market.

And yes, I have one, and yes, I went and checked, even though I knew the answer. :)
