I am a lineman for the county.
The number of directors on a Yagi antenna dictate the amount of gain it has.
The amount of gain you need depends on how strong the signal is at your location, how much loss you have in your coax, and any other devices.

Does the scanner in your truck pick up the signal with the Wilson antenna? Trying the Wilson antenna on your base would be a good idea. If it works and you just want the directional benefit of a Yagi, you can go with a lower gain/low cost antenna.

One reflector, yagis only have one reflector. The reflector is the longest element and is the farthest back. The next element is the active element and that is where your wire from the radio hooks up. The rest of the elements are directors and they get shorter as you go towards the front of the antenna.
