Yagi question

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I have a Laird Y4506 (12dB). I understand that a yagi will help when TX....of course lol. But will a yagi help in receiving (RX) weak signals in the position it's pointed in. Thanks!

Yes, antennas are reciprocal between transmit and receive. If you compare a signal received on a ground plane (about -1dBd gain) the same signal from your 12dBd Yagi will be about 13dB stronger or 20X more.
