I have had a Yasaeu 8800 in my truck for quite a while and always had an annoying noise when driving and receiving, I installed an inline noise filter to the power side and it fixed the problem but now when I turn off the truck the radio stays on which is right but when i start it back up again it turns the radio off. Any help would be nice.
Thanks

I can't help you with your problem but I can tell you from many years of experience
in the mobile radio arena that you should most definately turn the radio OFF before
starting up the vehicle. When you turn on the ignition switch and start an engine it
always puts out a very heavy dc spike on the dc power line so its best to play it safe
and you know the old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and
that applies in this issue.

I have had this happen on my FT-8800 when the battery was getting weak or in a similar way during a really cold start. The voltage drops below the 8800's threshold and it shuts down.

I have been scolded by a local commercial radio repair person for leaving mine on while starting it and he reasons the same thing fineshot1 says, a large DC spike which is only minimally attenuated if the power runs off the battery directly. So best for your radio if you shut it down before cranking the engine. It was a hard habit to break for me.
