Hi all
I have inherited an FT950, with some existing faults,
I have 10watts out on 80mtrs CW And SSB Into Dummy Load,
And zero out on 160mtrs CW & SSB, into D load ,RX is fine on both.
All other bands are around 80watts out into D load ,
Not sure if any one has been into hidden menu , or if this would cause the problems,
Any help/ info appreciated
Tnx to all

Good Morning
Tnx for the info, have done full reset,
Will look into the updates u mention ,and will update u.
Appreciate it
Tnx agn
Perform a full reset on the 950 and then re-test. Also, make sure it has the final firmware version. Looks like 1.19 is last firmware. There's also a DSP firmware that requires updating.

Don't hesitate to contact Yaesu for support.

Read this notice before updating the radio:

Well the reset should have fixed any software or configuration issues... so the new firmware/dsp probably won't help fix your problems.

I'd still give it a go and upgrade. Be sure to read the procedure and choose the correct DSP firmware.

If you're certain that the dummy load has low SWR on 160/80 then it sure seems like there's a hardware issue. It could be the finals or something in the bandpass circuitry.

Hi there
Tnx 4 this. Only good output is on 20mtrs over a 100 w out
Would that rule out the finals?
Tnx 4 all anyway

Yeah that's what weird. I took a look at the service manual and the PA-Unit has the finals and bandpass filtering. LPF1 and LPF2 are the 160m and 80m filtering blocks. Could be some kind of power issue there.

What about the other bands? Are you getting 100w on everything but 160/80?

Just checked service menu:
J01 PH1 to R01 PH1 ,
They are all showing 235, ?
Not sure if this should be 215 or not?
I can't say for sure. These settings are not independent and a full service alignment has to be done prior to setting these specific values. There's no default value. (I doubt they'd all be maxed out however.)

I think you're best bet is to call Yaesu service. I would describe the problem and have them troubleshoot it first. If they end up replacing the MOSFETs then they'll have to perform a full alignment anyway.
