YET ANOTHER STUPID SCANNER QUESTION!

an edacs system i monitor will be adding a new site soon... this site will have some freqs from the orignal system but will also add some new freqs to the system... how would i program these new freqs in my pro 96 so i could hear all of them again--this system won't be on line until late next month but the testing begins as soon as the fcc ok's everything.... up 'til now the only systems i have dealt with have had all the freqs on all the towers and everything has been simple....

The NEW site and the OLD site must be programmed as individual separate sites and you will program them as you did the old site with the freqs in proper LCN. Am I assuming correctly that the NEW site will be replacing the old one? I am not sure I am understanding your question.

sorry for the confusion.... there will be multiple sites.... the "new site" will be in addition to the old sites.... all of the old sites have the same freqs on them, the new site will have some of the old freqs and some new freqs as well... but all on the same edacs system.....

If the LCN is the same on the sites and the common frequencies (at all the sites) are the same (in the same LCN) then you can just add the new freqencies in the new LCN slots in the same bank. This just means it will be simulcasting on the common freqs. If this is the case, my guess (I could be wrong) is the new freqs are probably being added as interconnect frequencies.

On the other hand if the new site is not sharing LCN/Frequency assignments with the old sites (all the common ones), then you will need a seperate bank for the new site.

thanx... i was afraid that would be the answer.... i am hoping the new numbers are integrated into the old numbers so it will just be a matter of refiguring the lcn.... these folks are trying to cover a fairly diverse area.... especially down into a river vally that drops 200 feet or so below the average terrain rather aburtly.... i am trying to weasel the info out of the guy who is my inside, but i might not be too successful....

not sure what radio you have, but the 246 does a great job with edacs... you can set all the program all the sites independently and set them all to the same QK istead of wasting banks in the older models (96, 296, 250, 95, etc)

lets see... i have 3 MO systems, 5 CONV systems, 1 LTR system, and 3 EDACS systems programed in my 246 (all containing a MINIMUM of 50 channels/TG's). how much memory might you ask? 246 reports 35%. lets face it... memory is cheap nowadays.
