• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Littleton PD and ACSO Deputies have been following a black bear for about the last 2 hours, pretty interesting listening.

I think they split up early last week and was seen in the Boulder area.

Bear and big cat sightings are way up this year. Almost a weekly occurrence in Boulder/Boulder county.

Hopefully Arap and DOW catch this one with no unfortunate incidents.

Phil.

Accidents with Moose in Grand County seem to be more frequent this year including one with an ambulance.

Yeah, my aunt and uncle live up there. They told me about a guy who tried to put his little girl on the back of a moose, until people and a ranger came and informed him his idea was dumb. That guy who got mauled by the moose up there went to their church, and they where among the first responders..very very sad.

LITTLETON- A young black bear meandered into a neighborhood near South Julian Street and West Powers Place.

The bear was being monitored for much of the afternoon on Sunday and then went up a tree. Several dozen residents in the area came out to see what was going on.

The Division of Wildlife responded and took several shots at the bear with a tranquilizer gun. A local fire crew even used a ladder to try to reach the bear. Each time it was hit with a tranquilizer, it went further up the tree.

Eventually the tranquilizers took effect and the bear fell from the tree into a tarp being held by several people below the tree.

The young bear wasn't injured. It weighed about 100 lbs and is probably about a year or a year and a half.

The Division of Wildlife is going to take the bear back into the foothills. DOW officers say the bear should be fine.

Black bears feed on plants, berries, and dead animals. They can feed for up to 20 hours a day and consume as many as 20,000 calories.

This time of year they are typically trying to store lots of energy for winter hibernation.
