It sounds like the 'Medics' are in the system now.
The talkgroup that I have heard them on is 20096.
From TG 20096 they are told to go to YH-1, which I assume is York Hospital.

I have uploaded the latest list to my RS 96 and now I am not receiving anything. Not sure what changed or if I have a setting messed up. Anyone having the same problem?
Thanks,

Frank, I am assuming that you are using win96 software and have tested for a control channel by manually going through them listening for a data signal.
If that is the case, then check custom table MOT 9600 CC.
Base Frequency is 500, Offset is 0 and Step Size is 12.50.
I believe that the RR Database gives a different offset, which didn't work for me, until changed it to 0
This has worked for me when I use my 96.

Got it going with the 0 offset manually entered. The ARC96 software does not like to keep the 0 offset. I wants to default to 380 everytime I input 0. Guess that is one thing that I will have to do manually anytime I upload data to the 96.
Thanks for the response.

Thanks, Frank...I had used the RR database feature of Win96 to program my PRO-96 but could not figure out why the scanner would never pick up on the York system even though it worked perfectly fine if I manually scanned the channels.

Now, can I use the above listed offset, etc., and only program the control channels, or do I have to enter every frequency used by the York system?

The Custom table info has been fixed. Also adding more of the TG that are not listed as of yet.

Also, the System has gone live again.

Sounds good from Lebanon Pa. North system with 99% decode.

York county: The good and bad

York County's new digital radio system has received praise from many fire chiefs; however, fire companies in the southwestern corner of the county say it has severely hampered their radio transmissions.

From the sounds of the 2 alarm fire this afternoon, the new radios seem to work 100% interior and exterior in Hanover.. The York County internet feed heard every single transmission, Loud and CLEAR.. Anyone else hear the same thing?

2 Alarm Fire In Hanover

I monitored both Dispatch and on-scene units (on this web site) and all calls went through at DAQ 4.0 or better. The Technical (Radio) Folks of York County provide a good service down in South West York.

Good Afternoon, I used my WIN96 Changed everything like you suggested and still get nothing today. After changing the info in the MOT9600 did you click back to normal or leave the custom"dot"filled in ? The only thing I have been getting is I see a VC 406.4750, and also 407.xxx pop up but without audio.... And on the control channel I'm getting between 92 and 96% . Any ideas or suggestions? I am using a radio Shack PRO96 Thanks

For my 2096 I entered all of the frequencies instead of just the CC and changed the offset on the custom table. I am now getting outstanding reception of the system on the Eastern side of Lower Paxton Twp.

engine16,

I am having the issue you describe, but with the Dauphin system, not York...and I cannot figure it out...

I just moved to Palmyra, Lebanon County about a week ago and finally yesterday had the time to actually sit down and reprogram my Pro-2096. All I got to say is WOW! York's system has certainly come a long way. Signal strength varies between 92 & 96% from where I'm and I'm sure once I get my outside antenna up it will be near 100%.

Congratulations to York County!!!

Additional info on problems

As a result, the fire chiefs of Hanover and Penn Township fire departments, as well as Pleasant Hill and Jefferson fire companies have decided their firefighters will use their old, analog radios while on fire scenes to communicate with each other.
Bistline said the new radios do have a feature, known as "talk-around" that allows them to communicate radio to radio, essentially doing the same thing as the old analog radios.
http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?id=65336&sectionId=46
============================

Even with its 1950s-era technology, Penn Township Fire Chief Jan Cromer had more faith in the old system because of upgrades made to it specifically to serve the Hanover area.

"I will prove to anyone that the radio system Hanover and Penn had with added-on repeaters (on the analog system) worked better than the system does now," he said.

'A different animal' But, even after upgrades are made, will the problems be fixed? Jones, who maintains the weblog dedicated to documenting the emergency services communication industry, said digital systems can be good. However, they might not be the best choice for emergency services. Because such systems are very complex, they can be more of a hindrance.

New CC

I'm currently picking up freq 501.7625 as the cc for Yorks new system, but its not listed in the database as a cc. It is listed as being one of the freq for the central area though. Just wondering if they were doing some testing or not!

That happened to me last weekend when I was up in Carroll County trying to test my PRO96 programming....and like a dummy, I forgot to write down the particular frequency (and have since zapped the memory in the scanner with WIN96). At the time, I only had the RR-specified control channels programmed, and was receiving no traffic. I scanned 500 to 502, found a trunk signal, programmed it in that bank as a channel, and THEN started receiving traffic. I would venture to agree that they haven't finalized their control channel plan.

Someone else on this thread suggested entering ALL the system frequencies to ensure this doesn't happen....I'm guessing if you have room in that bank then go for it...

Unlike a Moto system where you are LIMITED to 4 CC's, Harris allows ANY channel to be a CC. York's systems will move the CC to where ever it needs to be to stay on the air. Best bet is to program all 54 channels in to your scanner so you wont miss anything.
