It appears that a license has been applied for and granted to place a transmit site in Whiteford, MD. The address is that of Harford County/Maryland State tower on Whiteford Rd. Does anyone know if there is actual equipment in use here? There is also a location on this license for the York College.

So if they go ahead with this upgrade, prepare for a new expensive scanner.

700 MHz
Phase II P25

Well atleast there are scanners out now that do Phase 2. Sucky, I thought I'd pick up a cheaper 396xt, I'll have to get one of the newer unidens I think instead.

It looks like this thread has died.

Not a ton to speak of. The system is in normal operation and there have been few issues.

There is a 2017 timeline set for the upgrade to 700mhz Phase II but there isn't much chatter about details. And very little information (actually, none) has been shared to subscriber agencies regarding the need for subscriber equipment replacement.

I placed a trouble ticket for a barrage of CC Scan and Band Scan occurrences late last summer/early spring. The tech that came out, after explaining to me that tropo skip from a co-channel TV transmitter somewhere to the east was inundating the control channel's ability to stay connected with the radios, also told me that the existing tower footprint for UHF-T will be completely insufficient for 700mhz implementation. So adding and replacing towers will almost certainly be needed.

That said, with 2017 less than two years out, I've heard nothing of physical actions toward the upgrade.

Basically the system is mature and working ok now. I suspect you'll hear a lot more about York County if/when they do the 700 upgrade.

I'm not sure if you've seen this info...

Not getting Central system

All of a sudden I have no reception on the P25 truncked "central system" control channel 500.3125 mhz. I thought I had a scanner malfunction but when i programmed in the North and south systems they work fine. Did they add a new control channel ? Don't know but wonder if anyone else noticed.

Being that this is a Harris IP-25 system any channel can act as the control channel. Make sure you have all of the frequencies programmed in just in case they switch to a control channel not previously used as one.

Control channel, "500.3125" is on the air and loud here in Gettysburg. As
the post above states, make sure you have all channels programmed
because they do change....

Harris P25 systems allow any site channel to be rotated in as the control channel. Make sure you're checking them all.

While listening in the vehicle fire today I caught tg 20008 and 20012. These don't fall in line with YC talkgroups . Anyone know what these are. I did hear a reference on 20008 as being a Fire Police channel.
