It was used (or 'played with') during last year's York Fair as well, when the West Manchester site was the only one on the air.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do it again this year. What a better place to test it out and show it off. Probably for non-public safety functions, as the official acceptance hasn't yet occured.

Not a rumor

The trunked P25 system will be used by the Sheriff, DA and other agencies during the fair. Radios will be distributed before the fair to the agencies that will be "Playing". I do not believe Fire is going to "play" this year but that is not gospel...

Coverage is NOT an issue.. With multiple sites looking at the fairgrounds this will not be a worry.. last year we covered all areas with the LTBF site alone (LTBF is directional pointed WEST on RT 30, Away from the fairgounds)..

Get your scanners fired up and programmed..

I hear more PD traffic on the new system today. Is this a patch or are they starting to use the new system? Also, what pd units will be on what zones? The new fleetmap has things slighty different than the previous areas of units on the current zone channels. Can some one break down what police departents are on what talkgroup?

Patches

What you hear , other than testing, is patched from the Legacy systems to the trunked. You only hear the field unit as the TX path is not coming from the new C3 consoles. Both sides will be heard after the cut over..

clairification

The patches will be removed after system cut over PLUS a comfort zone.. No failures etc..

The patches are there as a roll back solution if the trunked system should burp, We acn roll back to the legacy systems..

Enjoy while you can..

All of the existing zone TX are patched as of today. They are following the existing numbers :

1 = City
2 = North (155.250)
3 = SW (155.415)
4 = Metro (155.625)
6 = DA
7 = Sheriff

Please note that these designations do not agree with the alpha tags shown in the database. There is a lot of activity since all unit to base transmissions are now being simulcast.

Full simulcast said to begin in early October.

Patches

Not sure where the info listed in the last post came from but it is not correct.....

The zones are patched as listed EXCEPT DA.. we do not have DA dispatch capability on the legacy systems.

DA will not be patched.

lots of traffic on Admin A-D during the fair..

Heard the York City Channel 2 patch PD TAC 1-A (TG 12101) and the Fire Main (TG 12001) on the unit-to-base simulcast patch today through the Central system.

First time that I can recall hearing the unit-to-base of York City 2 at my more than 9 hilly miles from York City location with just a six inch rubber duck. The new system will rock.

Police portables will be issued in the second half of this month. Police will go full simulcast the first week in November. The legacy system will be patched into the TRS while equipment installations continue.

Whats the lesson here? Use something thats proven and that works! P25. Leave Open Sky in the lab until and if the bugs are worked out.

Project 25 (P25) digital trunked radio system

York County, Pa., plans to roll out its new Project 25 (P25) digital trunked radio system next month. The county conducted digital radio audio tests to determine how its new system is affected by specific noise conditions.

The county’s $68 million, multifaceted technology system and infrastructure project, which began four years ago, includes a new emergency services center; a fully functional, geographically redundant long-term backup facility (LTBF); CAD system; automatic number identification/automatic location identification (ANI/ALI) controllers; VoIP telephone system for administrative functions; UHF Project 25 (P25) T-band digital trunked radio system with full microwave connectivity; 22 transmission sites, complete with hardened climate-controlled shelters with full generator backup power; and a 16-site full simulcast digital alphanumeric UHF fire and EMS alerting system.

From what was said at the "train-the-trainer" class last week, the system will be used on or about 11/8. All fire units will start using portables only as they await mobile installs.

Not to worry, system was built to 98% coverage with portables. Supposedly there are only two dead spots in the County.

Help please.

Police portables will be issued in the second half of this month. Police will go full simulcast the first week in November. The legacy system will be patched into the TRS while equipment installations continue.

Is the first week of November still a good date?
Should I enter all channels listed for the P25 York system or only the control channels. How long will my BC 780 and Pro-93 continue to work? I am not hearing anything on my GRE PSR-500 digital channels yet.

Thanks for any help.

"Weak" or "dead", both are areas with considerable 911 activity, one for the usual ski resort related things, the other for boaters in trouble and other river rescue matters.

What happened to the plans for tower site in Marietta?
