You'll usually hear OPP 1 & OPP 2 on the 3 District (most always patched with 1 District) air. They actually use a York Regional portable radio but are also equipped with the fleetnet radios and can, if needed talk with their own dispatcher. This is mainly because these units have one giant patrol area from the 404 right on up to Orillia and who knows where else. But they always talk to the York dispatcher even when taking a call from their own dispatch. So, if you monitor 3 district, the OPP repeater frequency and every once in a while SIM 11 you'll hear what little OPP activity that there is. Even when OPP1&2 are not on and say there's a major accident on highway 48--you don't need to hear OPP to hear what's going on because along with fire you'll have 3 district respond and deal with things until OPP digs up a car to actually do the reports.
BTW, once fire is paged on the VHF channel, you can use that York fire trunk to continue listening to the call. Usually within the page out the volunteers will be asked to respond on Bravo *. The "Bravo" talkgroups 2, 4, 6 and 8 are used by all 3 Georgina stations, all 3 East Gwillumbury stations and Central York (Newmarket and Aurora). They use Bravo 2 as a dispatch and operations channel and B4, B6 and B8 as incident command talkgroups. Note: Richmond Hill uses the odd numbered Bravo talkgroups in the same way.
