They are on the Ontario Gov't Fleetnet system, Zone 1.

You will need a trunk tracking scanner in order to scan them.

Yes Georgian dispatch is now on the new system. Note that Georgian (in Barrie) now dispatches all of York Region. This is because the Region of york took over all smaller EMS services, and initially York was dispatched by three different dispatch centres. This caused them serious grief in terms of controlling costs for moving vehicles, overtime, stand-by's, etc..
It used to be Mississauga north desk on the 152.000 pl 118.8.
You will need a trunking scanner to scan them, or program a few local towers with the GMCP freq's and keep your finger on the buttons to scan manually. It will stop on digital users (corrections Canada, etc...) which you will need to eliminate from the scan list for a very short period of time. Very annoying to do this manually.
(Former York region paramedic, and ex-Nobleton Ambulance paramedic)

Corrections Canada is not on this system.

The digital users so far are OPP, MTO Enforcement, MNR Enforcement, Guelph PS, Guelph FS and BMR.

What's your source for this? This is the first anybody has heard of this.

I'd heard even before Zone 1 came online that the *Ontario* Ministry of Corrections might be using the system. Perhaps they are still planning to.

That's what I've heard as well since they're within the Solicitor General's umbrella.

Somewhat of a difference between Corrections Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Corrections.

Hey Mike

Is there a difference between the two?. I forgot to mention that I saw it in Monitoring times. I just read it again and it says Ministry of the Solicitor General correctional services. Isn't Corrections Canada the same?.

Thanks

Corrections Canada is federally run. I believe they are using vhf frequencies (apco25). They run the penitentiaries such as Millhaven.

The Ministry of Corrections is provincially run. They usually have a uhf repeater in each centre and the vehicles use 143.2350 simplex when outside. They're in charge of the superjails.

Don't believe half of what you read in the Canada column of Monitoring Times. In this months column, the author unfortunately rounded off the frequencies to 2 decimal places which caused a lot to be 5 khz off. The large list of GMCO frequencies is comprised of 90% MTO frequencies. He's also got a nice picture he snapped while in Nanticoke. He believes it's a "no radio transmitter" sign. If you've got a copy of MT take a close look. It looks more like a "no littering" sign.

I'm glad to see Canada represented in MT but I wish the content was checked by people local to the area that's being covered. It would eliminate approximately 75% of the errors in the column.

HAHA I notice the frequency errors too. The sign looks like a opened can of something. Nothing like a cell phone or a transceiver.
Thanks for clearing the correction thingy

Thanks

P.S His call sign is VE3KOT

So, why not be a nice guy and write into the column editor. Maybe all your confirmed info will also make it into the magazine.

I know mine did.

Tried that once already but was told that I was wrong. Now I just sit back and enjoy the column as a nice read. He's a great writer but the frequency information he supplies is to be taken with a grain of salt.

The "No Littering" sign was just too funny though.
