Just looking over the database and saw where York County does not hold a license anymore for 39.100 Mhz.

All they have is a license for 153.845 Mhz. and it is a mobile only frequency.

Bethany Fire had the frequency of 46.060 Mhz. and that frequency has expired as well. I bought some of there old Low Band Minitor II pagers and Low Band Maratracs before.

My question is what are they paging the volunteer fire & recue departments on?

I wouldn't think that every fire & rescue worker in the county would be carrying a 800 Mhz. That would run into some big money.

Thanks for the help

David

They may have.

I can't see how a alpha-numeric pager would wake somebody up in deep sleep like a voice pager would

and also how could they set off fire sirens as well.

May have to find out the answer in a couple of weeks when the Charlotte Hamfest rolls around. One of the

officials is a member of Bethany Fire Department.

Just my thought

Thanks

I worked for a place where our personnel used alphanumerics for years for emergency public safety notification.. Now some counties use a software app called active 911 that does the same thing on the phones gives a map, names and all the good stuff, the dispatchers have priveleges too.. Pretty neat I have seen this on county personnel phones here !!

York County owns and operates a 900MHz alpha-numeric paging network which is utilized to notify responders of their calls. We don't activate sirens at stations. However, the paging network could be utilized for that too if the need were to arise.

Lastly, many agencies in the county utilize services such as Active911 which is a cell phone based service, but those services only augment the official paging network. ISO does not recognize services that utilize public cellular networks as primary means of dispatch.

The alpha paging network is a robust and reliable means of alerting responders. It has been in service for about 8 years now.
