I'm looking to setup a Zello radio or other network radio that is future proof. They seem to be quite expensive for what they are running old Android OS and my concern is that once the OS becomes to outdated to run Zello then the radio radio becomes useless, I'm looking for something future proof so I was thinking about using a generic smartphone with some kinda bluetooth PTT mic/speaker to give me at least some sort of a feel of a radio unless there is another type of network radio?

Perhaps there is a way to build a network radio from a Raspberry Pi maybe?

Also what are the most active Zello channels? I have FreeStar but can't seem to find much else that are really used much, even the FRS/GMRS channels can be very quiet for the most part.

Zello is slowly fading away. They stopped allowing free users from using the desktop app. It's probably hemorrhaging money at this point. I moved all my operations away from it years ago. I wouldn't count on it being around at all much longer.

I switched all of our feeds over to SDR dongles using SDR Trunk and Rdio Scanner. Far more superior interface for listeners.
