zeromatic settings question

hello im using the psr-500 my question what is the rite setting for this to recieve the entire frequencie band range 25-1300 i have the original settings in and not to happy with this. wander if there is a better setting for this for both the 5k range and the in &out settings whick buy the way what is the diffrence between these two. i have been in the parking lot of a couple fast food places and have not heard anything not that this is my primary goal to hear this just curious why i would not pick up anything. especially rite in the parking lot, thanks for any help on this as to where sweeper settings should be so i can even see if sweeper does work thanks
